The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device

It has been 30 years since the original Toy Story film debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and introducing viewers to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang

The preview reveals the young girl โ€” who received Andy's toys when he grew up โ€” receiving a brand new plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser avoids is why Woody is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys find good homes.

Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her outfit.

Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the group.

Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
